Queensland captain Greg Inglis has given a glowing endorsement of Kalyn Ponga ahead of the young superstar’s Origin debut this weekend.

The 20-year-old has been in superb form and is expected to come off the bench in Game II at ANZ Stadium as the Maroons fight to the save the series.

Inglis tells Alan Jones what Kaylyn Ponga is like off the field.

“He’s an absolute gentleman, he’s just so polite, so respectful off the field.

“First day in camp he walked straight over to me, shook my hand and said ‘Hey I’m Kalyn’.

“I said, ‘don’t worry mate, I know who you are.’

“Football speak volumes of him but away from the field I see him around camp and he’s nice, he’s a shy kid, but he’s always got time to say hello and have a chat.”
