Google program offers $100M to support next generation of innovators

We all know Google, the helping hand to many of our questions.

But have you heard of the Google.org Impact Challenge?

It’s program within Google which searches for and supports the next generation whose innovative ideas for change are making an impact locally and globally.

Australian Impact Challenge President Jacquelline Fuller tells Ross Greenwood her role is similar to a “venture capitalist”.

She says the program was born before Google even went public.

“Our co-founders… before they even went public with Google said, ‘We want to make sure that philanthropy is part of our core DNA’.

“So they committed to giving one per cent of our net profits, so that’s actually north of $200 million a year these days, to Google.org.”

Ms Fuller also shares one of her favourite grantees to date, which happens to be located right here in Australia.
