Queensland police will investigate whether police were lured to an ambush by killers with links to extremist online groups.

Constables Matthew Arnold and Rachel McCrow were gunned down by Nathaniel and Gareth Train when they arrived at a property in Wieambilla.

Two constables, Keeley Brough and Randall Kirk, miraculously managed to get to safety but a neighbour, Alan Dare, was also killed by the Trains when he went to investigate the commotion.

The killers, as well as Gareth’s wife, Stacey Train, were shot dead in a firefight with specialist police later that night.

“There is a lot floating around about just who these people are and what exactly the motive could’ve been,” Today reporter Andrea Crothers told Spencer Howson on 4BC Summer Breakfast.
