Disturbing trend towards violence, threats for QLD’s principals
Four in 10 school principals in Queensland have either been attacked or threatened by parents.
39 per cent said they’ve also copped online abuse, according to a national occupational health, safety and wellbeing survey carried out by the Australian Catholic University.
More than half had been threatened with violence.
Dr Paul Kidson says the findings reveal parents are the main instigators of violence, and it is having a huge impact.
“There’s an increasing rise that causes us to be concerned about it, not just that it is happening but the impact it is then having on the school leaders to the point that some of them are starting to say I don’t know that I really want to keep doing this.”
