Bill McDonald is hoping to avoid any Christmas cooking fails this year.

So he asked his best mate, a foodie and home gourmet cook, Angelo Galano, for his tips for the best cooked ham.

He’s got a sure fire way to nail it, including the all-important glaze.

Below is the recipe + method!

Ingredients:

  • Whole ham (5-6kg)
  • 2 cups apricot jam
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoon brown vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons of mustard powder
  • 1/2 cup brandy

Instructions:

  1. Sieve warm jam, combine with remaining ingredients, mix well in saucepan
  2. Stir constantly over heat until mixture boils
  3. Turn off, stir and leave to cool
