Budweiser’s bold response to World Cup beer ban

The nation that wins the 2022 FIFA World Cup stands to win more than the famous trophy after Qatar’s controversial beer ban.
Tournament sponsor Budweiser has been left with thousands of cans of beer it can’t sell after the host country nixed the sale of all alcoholic drinks in stadiums just days before the event began.
The only official World Cup site where tournament-goers can buy a Bud will be at the Doha City Centre fan zone.
“There is a fan zone at the World Cup where you can go and get your beer for $22,” Peter Psaltis explained to Laurel, Gary & Mark.
“Budweiser spent, well, it’s over $100 million AUD to be the exclusive provider of beer at the World Cup.”

Left with plenty of beer and no one to sell it to, Budweiser has come up with a new plan.
“New Day, New Tweet,” the company’s official Twitter account posted.
“Winning Country gets the Buds. Who will get them?”

Well, what we do know is Qatar won’t be bringing home the bacon.
“It’s the first time in World Cup history that the host nation has lost their opening game,” Psalty said.
“There have been draws, host nations have had draws in the past but this was a loss for Qatar.”
