Brisbane’s ‘appalling’ transport problem

Neil Breen has expressed his frustrations with catching an Uber in Brisbane, deeming it to be very difficult.
The Brisbane Live host said that the inaccessible transport also gives a bad impression.
“Our government aspires for this to be a cosmopolitan Olympic city. We are so far from it with transport, it’s not silly,” he said.

Neil Breen attempted to book an Uber home on the weekend, but his trip was cancelled multiple times.
He expressed his concern for other individuals who might have had a similar experience.
“Ubers are appalling. Taxis aren’t much better on a Saturday night,” he said.
An Uber spokesperson has provided the following comment.
“We are conscious of the impact increased demand has on the rider experience, and we’re focussed on doing more to make sure the platform meets rider expectations. This includes addressing situations where a ride did not go as smoothly as they would have liked, and actively looking for new drivers to partner with to meet demand.
We’re also proactively letting driver-partners know about the negative impact cancellations can have on the experience of riders and other driver-partners. Repeatedly accepting trips without the intention to complete them, and subsequently cancelling these trips, is considered fraudulent behaviour and is a violation of Uber’s Community Guidelines. It can result in driver-partners permanently losing access to the Uber app.
In Queensland, driver-partners can see the rider’s trip fare before the trip starts, as required by state regulations. A driver-partner earns no money from a trip if they accept a job and then reject it before it starts. If a driver-partner cancels a trip, for example because after accepting they realise they’re driving in the opposite direction to the pick-up location, Uber’s platform matches a new driver-partner with the rider.”
