‘Big stick’ legislation to crack down on ‘bad behaviour’ from energy providers

Energy Minister Angus Taylor says the government is prepared to use “big stick” energy legislation that they are aiming to push through parliament.
The legislation would give the government the power to break up energy companies that do not comply with their policies.
The bill passed the House of Representatives with the support of Labor.
Mr Taylor tells Ross Greenwood there has been less competition and higher prices.
“What we’ve seen in this sector is bad behaviour… this legislation is going into place to make sure that anti-competitive behaviour can be dealt with appropriately.”
