Bali bomb maker expected to walk free 10 years early

A man jailed for his role in the 2002 Bali bombings is due to be released from prison weeks before the 20th anniversary of the atrocity.
Umar Patek assembled a bomb that ripped through the Sari Club and Paddy’s Pub in Kuta, killing more than 200 people, including 88 Australians.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Indonesia but has only served 10 after he was tracked down, arrested and sentenced in 2012.
Patek will walk free from Porong prison, having served only half of his 20-year sentence, after being granted an early release as part of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
Officials insist he has been de-radicalised.
