Ahead of the holiday season, homeowners are being urged to take precautions to secure their properties against thieves.

After a spate of break-ins and robberies in the north-west of Sydney, local police are urging all Australians to try and break into their own homes without a key to uncover any weak points.

Superintendent Jason Joyce tells Ben Fordham robberies are very common over Christmas.

“It’s certainly the time of year when they become most active.

“Thieves don’t take a holiday. This is actually the busiest time of the year for them.”
