Aussies turn to renting amid high house prices

A large amount of Australians have moved into the private rental market since 1960 as house prices continued to skyrocket.

The Productivity Commission found there were now at least 2.1 million households for 6.3 million people in the rental market.
Productivity Commission Commissioner Jonathan Coppel tells Deborah Knight renters can struggle with security.
“About 170,000 odd people are actually in rental stress… and that’s a particular concern and something that has increased over the years.”
