Evidence of platypus living in the Albert River

The platypus is notoriously shy and sightings of them are rare, especially around built up areas and on the outskirts of our cities.

So the reported sighting of one in the Albert River last year by a member of the public prompted the Logan Council and the Wildlife Preservation Society to mount a search.

University of Queensland PhD student Tamielle Brunt was tasked with the job and she tells Mark she didn’t see one but environmental DNA testing proves they are there.
