Work from home encouraged as fourth COVID wave sweeps Qld

4bc news

Queenslanders are being urged to work from home to slow the spread of COVID-19 as the state battles its fourth wave.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk confirmed the surge in infections last week after a 97 per cent increase in hospitalisations was observed.

The severity and length of the current wave will depend on how well Queenslanders protect themselves and others from the virus, she said.

With the holiday season just around the corner, the Premier said now is the time to take extra care.

“People in that more vulnerable category may be thinking very seriously when they go to shopping centres or cinemas,” she said.

“They may, themselves, put masks on and people should show respect to others doing that because it’s their choice.”

Infectious diseases experts are also suggesting people work at home where possible.
