Why Aussies are planning more overseas trips

New analysis has shown domestic airfare costs have skyrocketed, with some in the industry fearing Australians will increasingly look to save their money and plan overseas trips.
It could mean some overseas destinations are now cheaper to fly to than anywhere locally here.
Travel website Kayak says the average return domestic flight will now set you back $409.
CEO of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council Brett Fraser says it’s a concern for the industry still getting back up on its feet.
“We are seeing definitely an increase in prices,” he told Sofie Formica on Brisbane Live.
Some in the travel and tourism sector are concerned that the rising prices will stop Australians from travelling domestically.
“There’s no question (people will look overseas) and if you go back before COVID and we did spend travelling overseas than we did in our country, that has changed obviously with border closures.”
