Authorities have responded to dozens of requests for help as heavy rain hammers parts of Queensland.

In good news this afternoon, a 36-year-old man missing near Gympie has been found safe and well, after being reported missing from a campsite in Imbil.

Earlier today a man was found clinging to a tree in Bundaberg after his car was swept away in floodwaters overnight.

Morayfield copped 118mm in the past 24 hours and Caboolture recorded 105mm.

QFES has issued an emergency alert for the Lockyer Valley, with the local council circulating watch and act flood alerts to residents.

QFES SES director Glenn Alderton says there is a lot of rain around in SEQ.

In the past 24 hours, there has been around 300 requests for help.

“We are also seeing and I don’t like to talk about this too much because I don’t like these numbers, there’s about 10  swift water rescues,” he told Scott Emerson.

Senior meteorologist at the Bureau of Meteorology, Felim Hannify, says it could be a wet drive home for people in the south-east, with short sharp showers around.

He says the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay could cop 100-200mm of rain tomorrow, describing it as the “finale” of this weather system.
