Warning for beachgoers ahead of sunny weekend weather

4bc breakfast

While Queensland has avoided a visit from a cyclone, there’s a warning in place for beachgoers this weekend.

Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle, which has now developed into a category three, is on a path toward Norfolk Island.

Gold Coast chief lifeguard Chris Maynard told Laurel & Mark the conditions will choppy on Queensland’s coast.

“All the beaches are open along the coast but the swell will increase throughout the day,” he said.

“Just do take care. Over the weekend, there might be a few shut, depending on what comes tomorrow.”
