The energy network is managing well in Queensland, according to Energex, as the state swelters through the worst of the heatwave.

It was predicted demand for energy would hit new records this afternoon into tonight, as people turn on the air conditioners to keep warm.

Justin Coomber from Energex says there are currently no outages due to the heat.

“The network is coping pretty well at the moment,” he told Neil Breen.

There are around 1800 customers affected by a fault in the system, with the biggest outage in the Clayfield area, but it is not heat-related.
