A car has smashed through the front of a home in Sydney’s south-west, sparking a fire which then reignited hours later.

At about 12.30am, emergency services were called to Carnavon Crescent at Georges Hall after a car crashed through the front of the brick home and caught alight.

A man who lives at the home managed to drag the driver from the burning vehicle before helping his parent from the home as well.

The 21-year-old male driver allegedly tried to run from the scene was stopped by neighbours.

Several hours after the initial blaze was extinguished, firefighters returned to the scene after it reignited in the garage.

The driver has now been charged with four offences:

  • Negligent driving
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Take & drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road

He’s been granted conditional bail to appear in court next month.
