Travelling interstate? Here’s when you need to get to the airport

Wait times across Australia’s three biggest airports have blown out with huge queues and delays for passengers travelling interstate.
On social media there were reports of huge queues through baggage claim and security at Brisbane Airport.
Brisbane Airport’s head of public affairs, Stephen Beckett, says the tight labour market is one of the issues, as Australian holiday makers enjoy domestic travel once again.
“It’s a combination of factors, we’ve heard from people in the terminal who are caught short trying to catch an Uber, and a taxi … Uber wait times and taxi wait times, same thing there, as petrol prices are getting higher, we are getting advice Uber drivers are leaving the market or finding jobs elsewhere,” he told Scott Emerson.
The airport corporation recommends leaving two hours before your domestic flight is scheduled to get to the airport.
Mr Beckett warned Mondays were particularly busy, as are mornings for workers for the interstate run.
It’s estimated around 55,000 people will move through the domestic terminal each day leading into the school holidays.
