Abby Gillett is a young mum with three children under the age of five, but she’s unable to speak or move.

She suffers from Aqueductal Stenosis, a rare condition which blocks the brain’s third ventricle.

Abby’s first brain operation was unsuccessful and in June last year she was found unconscious following a seizure.

Her new baby was only a week old at the time.

Eight further brain operations haven’t cured the young mother who is now severely brain damaged and will require full-time care for the rest of her life.

Abby’s father Rod tells Ray the family is still coming to grips with the tragedy.

“It’s very hard, Ray. It’s very emotional.  The little kids are the ones we’re worried about.

“She can’t walk, she can’t talk. She can’t look after herself at all.”

The local community is rallying together to help the family, holding a fundraiser at Port Macquarie Golf Club this Saturday from 5:30pm.
