Tourism operator stuck in country Victoria still waiting to hear from authorities

A tourism operator stuck in regional Victoria says he hasn’t heard back from Queensland Heath 11 days after applying for an exemption to go into home quarantine.

Peter travelled to country Victoria in October when his mother was dying.

He told Neil Breen he got to visit her in Bairnsdale for two days before she died, and said it was “worth every bit of it”.

Peter and his wife manage Whalewatch Resort on North Stradbroke Island.

He said it had been difficult for his wife managing it all on her own, as it was a very demanding, taxing job.

“I put an exemption in on the 30th [of October] and I’ve heard nothing,” he said.

He has a free-standing house at Birkdale, where he could safely quarantine.

After 11 days, he decided to apply again.
