Teachers left in the dark as state considers back to school delay

Queensland’s coronavirus case numbers continue to soar as the government considers delaying the start of the school term.
The state recorded a further 10,953 cases of coronavirus but it’s believed the real number would be far greater.
There are fears the worst is yet to come, with a peak in cases predicted toward the end of the month.
It’s prompted the state government to consider a one to two-week delay to the start of primary school this year to allow children the opportunity to be vaccinated.
A decision is expected in the next few days.
Peter Fegan told Chris O’Keefe there’s been suggestions kids will be vaccinated at school down the track.
“For parents, the problem is now, Chris, we’ve had this announcement today, they’re still on holidays, enjoying their time, but they haven’t been told anything!
“Now, the Premier’s sort of said this is what’s going to happen … but we don’t have a plan in place yet so it’s a little bit scary for teachers at the moment.”
