Sofie Formica is worried ‘copycat’ cases may arise after three teen girls were charged with the torture of a 13-year-old in Tewantin.

The alleged assault took place on March 11, over several hours, with the ordeal filmed by one of the girls charged.

Messages posted to social media by the alleged attackers thanked followers for sharing video of the incident and “for the fame”.

“If this particular situation isn’t handled really well, we could likely see copycat videos from other kids who are desperate for attention and really sadly, so desperate for fame,” Sofie Formica said.
