Small businesses challenge private parking ban

Article image for Small businesses challenge private parking ban

Small businesses are appealing to the Minister of Transport and Main Roads to reconsider the ban on parking operators accessing personal information to issue fines.

Mark Bailey, Minister of Transport and Main Roads, has blocked private parking operators from accessing personal information to impose fines on those who have exceeded the allocated time limit in private carparks.

Andrea Frost, Manager at Brighton Shores, told Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “I don’t understand how the minister thinks we can police this, it’s a private carpark its not a public free for all down there.”

“I think that our parking operator should go back to how they were…I can’t see another solution,” Ms. Frost continued.
