School holiday warning for drivers on the roads this summer

neil breen

With the start of the Queensland school holidays, police are reminding drivers to be safe on the roads this festive season.

Queensland police will be out in full force and from 12am tonight and Operation Charger will be in full swing running up until January 27.

Acting Chief Superintendent Chris Stream said the operation will include the festive period as well as Australia Day and back to school traffic.

He said they will target drink drivers, speeding and proper use of restraints.

“We’ve been provided some additional funding to put extra police out there onto the roads,” he told Neil Breen.

“24-7 we will be out there looking at drink driving initially.”
