A road safety roundtable has been held in response to Queensland’s horror road toll in 2022, the highest in a decade.

299 people lost their lives on the state’s roads last year.

Tragically, another three people died yesterday, a young family and their 1-year-old.

Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group president and founder Peter Fraser says it’s a major issue for Queensland.

He was at the forum and said a number of topics were discussed.

“One of the things I think we’ve got to consider, is [speeding] people not only over speeding, but how we set the speed limits for our roads, and especially our country roads.”

Transport Minister Mark Bailey will join Neil Breen this afternoon to discuss the state’s response.
