Queensland’s residential care system has fallen short

It has been revealed that Queensland has the highest number of children in the residential care system.

A Courier Mail article exposed these statistics and revealed the conditions of the residential care system are shocking.

Following this article, the new Child Safety Minister, Craig Crawford announced there will be a review into Queensland’s residential care system.

Katherine Hayes, CEO of Youth Advocacy Centre, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “It’s in all of our interests to get these kids on a productive path and that means intervening earlier as possible…we have to do that for everyone’s benefit.”
