Queensland parents are banding together against the Education Minister

Article image for Queensland parents are banding together against the Education Minister

Queensland is the last state in the country to introduce a phone ban in schools and the Education Minister is still not budging.

Grace Grace, Queensland’s Education Minister has consistently rejected the idea to implement a phone ban in schools statewide.

In response, a group of local parents have created a group called the ‘Heads Up Alliance’ to advocate for the introduction of a phone ban in Queensland schools.

Dany Elachi, founder of the Heads Up Alliance, told Peter Gleeson on 4BC Drive, “it doesn’t take much common sense to realise that if you take phones out of the classroom…students therefore are able to concentrate more on what’s going on in the classroom and focus on the teacher.”
