A Queensland mother has been charged, accused of murdering two of her children over five years.

51-year-old Maree Crabtree is accused of killing her 26-year-old son last year and her 18-year-old daughter in 2012 on the Gold Coast.

She was arrested at a house in the Brisbane suburb of Coorparoo on Wednesday and was later charged with two counts of murder, one count of torture and one of grievous bodily harm.

It’s alleged Crabtree poisoned her two adult disabled children until they died.

She is alleged to have also abused her other 25-year-old daughter for a number of years.

Detective Inspector Mark Thompson says the mother’s actions were not spur of the moment.
