Queensland GP providing midwife service amid healthcare crisis

Due to the ongoing healthcare crisis, a Queensland GP has employed an in-house midwife to provide care for women.

Nic Cognet is believed to be the first Queensland midwife to operate out of a medical clinic and is offering pre and postnatal care for women.

Ms. Cognet told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “…It just provides these women with the ability to have someone that they can talk and call and get to know a midwife at a more affordable way than what continuity of care models tend to provide.”

“I just want to be able to support and offer these women a bit more than what they’re getting because we know how fragmented it is,” Ms. Cognet continued.
