Baloo the black labrador is worth her weight in gold.

Her owner, Ipswich woman Dani Stevens, has lived with uncontrolled epilepsy for 11 years and couldn’t be left alone.

But along came Baloo.

She’s just been named the 2023 Australian Dog of the Year.

“My seizures were uncontrolled before I had Baloo, I would have falls and injuries all the time,” she told Neil Breen.

“I couldn’t be by myself, I was having seizures everyday.”

Incredibly, Baloo barks 3-5 minutes before Dani is about to have a seizure, detecting the chemical changes in her owner’s brain.

“It has been really hard … but since I got her, she has really changed my life.”
