QLD landlord hounded by local real estate agent refuses to raise rents

A Rochedale landlord says she’s fed up with a real estate agent harassing her following the floods.
With increasing pressure on the rental market and caravan parks full up, it’s never been more difficult to secure a lease.
Kelly revealed on 4BC Drive an unnamed real estate agency who she has no dealings with, has been “badgering” her, telling her she could raise the rent.
She told Scott Emerson they contacted her numerous times, despite her telling them she wasn’t interested in changing property managers.
She says in a text they were told they could get another $200 a week for their property.
They purchased the property years ago and they have kept the rent at the same price.
After doing calculations, they might be up an extra $6000, but Kelly explained she wasn’t interested.
“We thought, let’s say [the tenants] are struggling to pay what they pay us each week, and they might not be, maybe they are saving for their own house deposit, maybe they are going through IVF or got their own stuff going on.
“We thought what’s $6000 going to do for us, compared to what it could to a renter?”
She says considering the rental market, she says it’s time to “band together”.
