Human remains found under a Brisbane unit complex have been revealed to be those of a female.

Cleaners made the grim discovery behind a besser block wall in Alderley on Wednesday morning during a routine visit.

The remains had been tightly wrapped and partially buried, concealed by clothing and bedding.

Operation Uniform Pepperina has been established to investigate the circumstances around the female’s death.

Detectives are continuing to review various missing persons reports

Forensic samples taken from the scene have been sent for urgent testing and fingerprint analysis will be run on a number of items located in the area.

An examination of the crime scene is expected to be finalised this afternoon.
