Queensland floods: Police divers recover body swept away in floodwaters

Flooding across the state has turned deadly this afternoon, after divers recovered the body of a person whose car was swept away in floodwaters.
A vehicle was swept off the road in Yalangur, near Toowoomba this morning.
Nine News reporter Peter Fegan confirmed the sad news this afternoon that a man’s body has been found.
Police said two utes were both swept into a creek from Kelvinhaugh Yalangur Road at around 8.20am.
The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars was able to get out.
But the driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle, a 73-year-old Roma man, was found dead.

Nine News reporter Alex Heinke is in Warra, half an hour towards Dalby.
He told Scott Emerson about a dramatic rescue mission underway, after four children jumped into floodwaters.
4BC Drive later confirmed all four children were accounted for.
SES volunteers have received more than 400 requests for assistance in the past 24hrs. FRS swiftwater rescue technicians have also responded to multiple calls for assistance.

It comes as around 200 residents at Yelarbon on the Southern Downs are set to be evacuated as damage at Inglewood is still being assessed.
800 people were forced to leave their homes overnight.
Inglewood has been inundated.
Floodwaters have peaked at 11.15m and are receding slowly.
