Police commissioner’s promise following Doreen Langham inquest
Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll says she accepts findings from a coronial inquest into the death of Logan woman Doreen Langham.
The coroner was scathing of the police response.
Ms Langham’s daughter spoke to Spencer Howson on 4BC Breakfast, saying she wanted domestic violence victims to speak to the police, but she wanted to the force to acknowledge they failed her mother.
“In Doreen’s case, there were failings in the processes to protect her,” Commissioner Carroll said.
“I know [her family] go on to talk about her legacy, and I know that we are going to do everything we can to be a part of changing that whole system to make sure we do make our community safer particularly for women.”
She said a lot of their work aligned with the findings from the coroner.
