Gary Hardgrave has shared he thinks the Story Bridge should be returned to the state government to take pressure off the Brisbane City Council.

His comments come after Brisbane ratepayers organised a protest for later this week, and documents revealed the council had allegedly known the bridge needed repairs since 2016.

“Maybe we just need to spread the financial load of the repairs for this iconic bridge to all Queenslanders,” he said.

He’s also called for bold thinking in regards to Brisbane ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.

“I think we need billions for Brisbane,” he added.
