“We can’t turn suburbs into slums”: Logan Mayor defends voting against granny flat discount scheme
Logan City Council voted to halve infrastructure charges for building one-bedroom granny flats, granting a $13,500 discount to tackle Southeast Queensland’s severe housing crisis.
However, Mayor Jon Raven told Jason Matthews on 4BC Breakfast that he voted against the measure, arguing that the discount benefits investors rather than families and risks returning suburbs to overcrowded conditions without proper parking and amenity controls.
