Victoria signs on to bring in seasonal workers, but farmers say “devil is in the detail”

Farmers are waiting for the detail of what the Andrews Government is describing as a “landmark agreement” to bring in Seasonal Workers to assist on farm.

The deal will see workers fly to Canberra, before going to Tasmania to complete their 14-day quarantine, then on-to Victorian farms.

It’s expected to see 1500 workers arrive here by the end of April, well short of the 26,000 the industry will need in March.

Victoria is the last state to finalise a plan to bring in seasonal workers.
