Union’s QR “closed shop” derailed

There’s nothing stopping Queensland Rail from hiring new drivers from outside the organisation after the Fair Work Commission dismissed the Rail, Tram and Bus Union’s appeal to effectively keep a “closed shop”.

9-months after the positions were first advertised, the challenge’s delayed training up the extra 200 drivers recommended by the Strachan Review to solve the ‘Rail Fail’.

It’s something Transport Minister, Mark Bailey, refrutes.
