Southeast Qld, the car theft capital of Australia

New figures show Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Logan were the top three local government areas for vehicle thefts nationally in 2018.

In the past five years car thefts in Queensland have spiked almost 50% with Holden Commodores and Toyota Hilux the favoured targets.

It’s prompted the Palaszczuk government to rejoin the National Motor Vehicle Theft Reduction Council and chief executive Geoff Hughes tells Mark it takes a multipronged approach to tackle the problem.
