Riders saddle up for the Tom Quilty Gold Cup
This weekend the forests around Imbil in the Sunshine Coast hinterland will play host to one of Australia’s most demanding equestrian events, the Tom Quilty Gold Cup.
Competitors have 24 hours to cover a challenging 160 kilometre course that puts both rider and mount to the test.
Australian Endurance Riders Association secretary Kim Moir tells Mark the event, which doubles as the National Endurance Riding Championships, owes its existence to a couple of Australian bush legends.
