Queensland Border closure a disaster for tourism

Luke Grant

Daniel Gschwind, Chief Executive of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, Queensland’s peak tourism industry body, regarding the state’s recent snap-decision lockdown that could once again prove a disaster for tourism.

Two new COVID cases reported on Wednesday, including a nurse who appears to be the third separate case of a healthcare worker contracting the virus from Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Greater Brisbane residents will find out today whether the city-wide lockdown can be lifted for the Easter weekend, after “encouraging” results from a record number of coronavirus tests.

Mr Gschwind is in contact with the government every day and understandably the tourism sector is starting to talk about compensation.
