Queenslanders may like to think of themselves as a generous lot but the numbers tell a very different tale.

Each year the Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies at QUT analyses Australian Tax Office data on donation claims made by postcode.

ACPNS director Associate Professor Wendy Scaife tells Mark that Queenslanders give about 40 per cent less than the national average.
