Productivity Commission links decline in housing construction productivity to multiple factors

The Productivity Commission released a report which investigated Australia’s housing construction productivity.

Chair of the Productivity Commission, Danielle Wood, told Sofie Formica on 4BC Afternoons, “The key finding and also the most surprising finding was that, productivity of the housing construction sector has gone backwards over the last 30 years.”

“Getting productivity up is key to getting the housing supply up.”

“Essentially we found there’s no single reason [for low productivity], we find regulatory burden is a pretty common story across Australia,” Ms Wood continued.
