Pope Francis became the first pontiff to set foot in the Arabian Peninsula

Michael McLaren

Pope Francis landed in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday for the first-ever visit by a pontiff to the Arabian Peninsula – the birthplace of Islam where Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the grand imam of al-Azhar in Egypt, has urged Middle East’s Muslims to ‘embrace’ local Christians at an interfaith meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Michael is joined by Anglican Pastor Dr Mark Durie to discuss this momentous occasion as well as Christians in the Middle East facing unprecedented levels of persecution.
