Peter Dutton hesitant on Royal Commission into domestic violence after previous pledge

Last year, Peter Dutton confirmed to Peter Fegan that he would commit to a Royal Commission into domestic violence.

Today, the Opposition Leader was asked the same question, but gave a different answer.

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton told Peter Fegan on 4BC Breakfast, “It’s a dirge, and you can spend a lot of money on a Royal Commission, and you can make lawyers rich, and then you end up with recommendations that seem pretty obvious anyway.”

“I think change is certainly required, and I think we need to do more.”

“If a Royal Commission is required then yes, but whatever it takes to reduce violence against women and children, and make our communities safer, my whole career has been based on that,” the Opposition Leader continued.
