‘Only just a start’: Bruce Highway set to get a $7.2 billion boost

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will today travel to Queensland where he will pledge to feed $7.2 billion of investment into fixing the Bruce Highway, which will lift the entire 1673km stretch of road to a minimum three-star safety rating.

There have been 43 deaths on the major road this year – far above the five-year average of 31.

Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce told Dean Miller on 4BC Summer Breakfast, ‘This is only a start; it will cost a lot more than that.’

“Everybody needs to realise that whilst the Bruce Highway served its purpose, it was never designed to carry the amount of traffic that it does today, and that’s why it needs some serious upgrades,” he continued.
