TransLink is sitting on a $5 million pile of cash, the result of unclaimed balances on expired Go Cards.

The system was introduced in 2008, but the cards had an expiry date set at 10 years, meaning that last year more than 650,000 cards elapsed.

The average outstanding balance is $7.90 and TransLink acting deputy director general Martin Bradshaw tells Mark it is not too late to make a claim.
