M2 Motorway

David Berthon

Not surprising this week that Transurban was patting itself on the back for finally opening three lanes Westbound on its M2 Motorway from Pennant Hills-Road to Windsor
Road, effectively moving the evening traffic bottleneck three kilometres further west.
The end of the construction could not have come soon enough for this motorist and the thousands of commuters who have endured peak hour congestion each evening despite paying $7.10 for the pleasure of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for several years. Of course there was one benefit, the chance to admire the wonderful Transurban sponsored Plastic artwork Kinetica at Macquarie Park – its value as public art as described by Transurban’s Head of Sustainability Matt Brennan as not just its aesthetic appeal but in its ability to create a new way to experience the location, to change the way people experience a city or in our case, a motorway – to contribute to a sense of community. Somehow, I think he needs new glasses. I’m David Berthon
