Landmark reproductive rights case decided

Young Queensland woman Ayla Cresswell is planning to start a family after winning the right to use her deceased partner’s sperm to have a baby.

In a landmark ruling the Brisbane Supreme Court decided she could harvest his sperm for IVF treatment.

Queensland Law Society Deputy President Bill Potts tells Ben that because her partner hadn’t left a will it was a legal minefield.
